Dental Insurance, What dental insurance let you choose any dentist
Hello, I am a full time collage student living in California. I am looking to have some dental work done soon. Right now just looking to have some basic dental work but in the future would like to have some cosmetic dental work as well.
That is why I am on the hunt for affordable dental insurance that will let me choose any dentist I want. I current have a dentist and was told that if I get insurance I would need a plan that will let me pick my own dentist since they are not in any dental network. So what type of dental insurance is like that. I am assuming there has to be a plan like that since that is what my dental office is telling me to get.

You would want to look for a PPO since normally they do allow for you to choose an out of network dentist. However make sure by reading the plans terms. Sometimes they will reduce your dental coverages when you do choose a dentist that is not in their network.

You would need to either get a PPO plan or an Indemnity dental insurance plan. Both plans will let you pick your own dentist. But like the last reply state on a PPO dental insurance plan if your dentist is not on the plan they may reduce your coverages.
However an Indemnity as no network of providers so you coverages are the same no matter want dentist you pick.
It is the cosmetic dentist services that may or may not be covered so make sure you read the plans detail information so that you know what type of dental services would be covered.
