Individual Dental Insurance, Over charging dentist in Pennsylvania

I am self employed and had to get my own medical and dental insurance.  The medical plan that I got came with some dental so I just left it at that.  I was told I could go to any dentist I wanted and I would get 80 percent covered for preventive and basic dental care and that for major I would have 40 percent covered.

It also had a $1000 max but since I really have no problems with my teeth I felt this was more then enough.  So I go to a dentist and Had my preventive dental care.  Which was cleaning X-rays and I guess an office visit charge.   Total billing came out to almost 400 but I get 80 percent covered so no big deal right.

Wrong I get the billing and I am told my dentist is over a UCR rate.  When I asked want that was I was told my dentist is over the going cost in my area.  So I  have a $200 bill which I still need to pay.  I am upset with this since this is only about 50% and not the  80% percent I thought I was covered for.   What is going on here? and what can I do about it?

No Dental Insurance, My child has dental fears and I can not get any dental help.

Right now I do not have any dental insurance for myself or for my six year old daughter.  I work part time and do not get dental insurance.  Although I get some governmental help I do not get dental only medical care for my child.

That being said,  my daughter may have a cavity since she says one of her teeth hurts her on and off.  Knowing that I can not afford to take her to a general dentist I took her to a dental  clinic that said they offer free dental services to minors of low income families.

I was glad to find a place but my daughter was only with the dentist for less then a few minutes when they tell me that they can not help me since my daughter is scared of them and is kicking and screaming.   Well she is only six so what if she is scared I was so mad that a place that is suppose to help low income families kick us out.

I want to file a complaint on them for not helping us out.   They were very rude and did not give my daughter any time to adjust.  I was told I could try again when my daughter is able to behave.  What can I do now?  This has to be a joke.

Dental insurance, Bought a lame dental insurance plan and I feel ripped off.

Seven months ago I bought a PPO dental insurance plan.  Since I do not get dental offer to me from work I had to get something on my own.  I read about how the plan I bough would cover up to 50% for the cost of root canal and crowns.

I thought that was acceptable even though the max was 2000.00 but that was the highest yearly max I could fine.  Fine I thought I would deal with it.  So I am paying 34.56 a month for this stupid dental plan and the first time I go to really use it I find out I have not coverage for another 11 months for the crown that I need now.

I am told by my dental office that my insurance has a waiting period for crowns and major services.   What the heck is that about!  I been paying for this plan for seven months.  I did not know there were such long ass waiting periods.   I call the insurance company wanting my money back but was told that all I can do is cancel my plan.   They would not refund my money up to this point.

They said the waiting periods were fully disclosed to me on their web site and in the policy terms that they sent out to me with my ID cards.  Truthfully at this time I could not say they did or did not disclosed this information on their web site because I forgot what web site I got the plan from there was so many of the at the time I got the plan.  Sure I got my policy and ID cards in the mail but I did not know I had to read all the find print.  This just seems really wrong to me and what can I do to get my money back from them?

Dental Insurance, Over charging dentist

Who do I call when I have a dentist that lie to me about my dental insurance paying a claim?  I had to do a root canal and my dentist at the time told me that my insurance plan would pay 50% of the cost of the root canal.   Based on that he said the total cost was $800.00 my cost would have only been $400.00. $400.00 is a lot of money but I was able to get that together to have the root canal he said I needed.

After the fact I am now being charged for $640.00 for the root canal.  When I got this bill in the mail instead of $400.00 thought it was some type of  error and called the dental office. Where I was told that my insurance plan did not cover as much as they thought it would and so I owe the $640.00.

I called my dental Insurance plan that told me since I went to an Endodontic they do not cover 50% but only 20%.  I called the dental office who told me that the dentist in their office that did my root canal  was a specialist so that is why the claim got filed that way.   I told him this was not what was told to me and I would only pay the  $400.00 which I was told.

I am so upset I only did the root canal because of the price they told me I had to pay.  I feel I was bate and switched.  Since I asked the lady if she was sure of the cost and was told yes because she called my dental insurance to confirm coverage.   I am still getting the billing for the difference and do not feel I should have to pay it but they are stating they will put it on my credit report.  Who do I call about this?

How Can I Find Affordable Dental Plans from Dental4Less.com?

Affordable Dental Plans According to the National Association of Dental Plans, approximately half of the U.S. population does not have an affordable dental plan. The cost for affordable dental insurance can vary. Therefore, it is important to understand all your options in obtaining the most affordable dental plan coverage.

The company where you work may provide the most affordable dental insurance plan options. Dental insurance plans for individual and families are usually an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) or a PPO (Preferred Provided Organization) and operate much like traditional health insurance organizations. Affordable Dental Plans – HMO Affordable dental insurance plans from an HMO have a limited pool of dentist to select, but it is a more affordable insurance plan.

If you are self employed and looking for a more affordable dental plan, a discount dental plan may be an alternative. Discount dental plans are not dental insurance plans. A discount plan partners with dentists to provide customers with a savings on visits to the dentist office. The downside to discount dental plans is that they are not regulated and you have limited recourse if you experience dental plan problems. Affordable Dental Plans – Where to Buy You can obtain quotes for more affordable dental insurance plans from companies online and through your local insurance agent or broker.

Please keep in mind that there are many web sites who give the appearance of selling dental insurance but instead only offer a dental discount plan which is not insurance. Your dentist may also have affordable dental plan options available to patients.  Ask the receptionist if they partner with a dental plan company and see if one might be right for you.

Affordable Dental Plans – Other Alternatives If you belong to a professional association, you might be eligible for a dental insurance or discount dental plan. Many associations partner with a PPO to provide their members with dental plans that offer very comprehensive insurance coverage at more affordable prices. Finally, dental schools may offer affordable dental services. Dental schools seem to be safe, but can be inconvenient and treatment for one problem may have to be addressed in multiple office visits.
