Dental 4 Less, What is the ADA code for a Root Canal
Question: A little over four months ago the dentist I was seeing told me I should have a root canal done on one of my molars. At the time I did not have the funds to have the root canal done.
Now when I have the extra money I fine out that the dental insurance I have does not cover for me to see a specialist. I was told that I would need to know the ADA code for an idea of cost. If the root canal can be done by a general dentist I will have some coverage. How do I find out what is the right ADA code so I can check into my policy coverages and how would I know if I have to see a specialist or not?
Answer: D3310 Root Canal Anterior, D3320 Root Canal Bicuspid and D3330 Root Canal Molar are the more common root canal ADA codes but not the only one used. Also the ADA code by it self does not tell you wether or not you need to see a specialist or family/general dentist. In order to know that you would need to see your family dentist to get the correct ADA code for the service needed and to be advise if they feel you need to see a specialist.
