Supplemental Dental Insurance or dual coverages

I hear that you can have two dental insurance plan working together in order to save you more money off your dental cost but I can not seem to find anything on it.  My dental office tells me they will only take one plan.  Not two.  So how do you get two plans working together and what dental offices deal with two plans.

Right now I have my dental though work but it is only a 1000 max which is not much coverages when you may need a crown or something more then a cleaning.

First you would need to find a dental office that is willing to handle to dental plans. As you found out they do not have to take or process to dental insurance plans.

So start calling local dentist you may want to go to. See if any will handle two plans. No point in spending hours on line for a second dental insurance plan if you do not have any dentist in your area that will combine them.

If you do find a dental office willing to work two plans then find out what are some of the other dental insurance plans they take. Because then you need to find two plan that are accepted by that dental office.

Then next search for the plans in questions make sure you read the terms and conditions of the plans. compare cost and coverage to make sure that getting a second plan really will save you money and that you are not just spending more money to have a second dental insurance plan.

Normally you would want to get a second plan that has no waiting period for any of their dental services. The hard part is that plan with no waiting periods are in net work plans like HMO or dental discount plans.

The dentist has to be in the plan net work to honor that plan then be willing to still process out claims on your current plan. This does not happen to much since the dentist is already reducing their charges based on the fee schedule of the HMO or discount plan. So having then file a claim to your current insurance plan many not be something they are willing to do.

I comes down to making many calls to dental office making sure they will work both plans like you want before buying any other dental plans. I can be done but it not something that is easy to do.

May I advise instead of taking up so much time getting a second dental plan that may or may not work like you want it to. Why not just buy a better dental insurance plan.

You do not have to have the dental insurance though your job. If it is something that just come with your medical then you do not have to use it.

There are many good plans that will offer you a high max limitation. You could also buy an HMO insurance plan that does not have a year max limitation and they are very affordable plans.
