Connecticut Dental Fears and how to feel better about going to the dentist

Connecticut Dental Fears: I need advise please.   My mom made me get one of your dental discount plans since that was what I could afford and the Careington dental plan did look preety good.  However, my problem is that I have dental fares that really keep me from going to the dentist.

However my mom is calling up dentist in the plan net work and is going to make me go to the dentist for a check up and cleaning.   I scared and she does not get it.  I know I am twenty but I still scared.  How can I feel better about going to the dentist?   Tips and advise would be nice.

    Going to the dentist regularly is so important. I can understand your mom trying to force you into going for your own good. And the good of your teeth.

    However that will not make going to the dentist any easier for you if you have dental fears. What I suggest is booking your own dental appointment. That way it give you a chance to tell the staffing that you need a dentist that is very understanding to dental fears.

    You need to let the dentist know ahead of time so that they take the extra time they need to to make you feel better about the work they are doing.

    Dentist are understanding and are willing to walk you though everything if they know ahead of time and block out the time that is needed for your appointment.

    I have dental fears so I know where you are coming from. I called up a few dental office until I found a office that told me their dentist is very kind and understanding to people who have fears of going to the dentist.

    It is true it is important to let your dentist know about your fears ahead of time. They are only there to help you. I found that my dentist is very kind but I still take my I Pod and listen to music to tune out what is going on around me.

    This really helps me though the appointment.

    I do not really have dental fears but I hate going to the dentist. I just do not like going and having someone digging at my teeth. I have to block everything out just to relax.

    I take my music and get one of the sleep mask to wear so I am not having to pay any attention to the dentist. This may help you too so it worth trying.
