Comparing dental insurance, What is the different between a dental PPO and a dental Indemnity plan
My dentist is not a member provider of any dental insurance or plans. I really wish to stay with her since she has always treated me well and offers low prices compared to some other dentist in the area. She tells me I would need to find a PPO or a Indemnity plan. I tried finding either type of plan but I am not sure what the differences between the two are or which would be better for me to get. Can you please advise. Thank you

For the most part they both work the same way which is allowing you to choose your own dentist. A PPO has a network of dentist but will normally allow you to go out side their network of dentist. However read the plan well because sometimes going out side the PPO dentist network may reduce the plans coverages.
An Indemnity has no dental network therefore coverages are the same no matter what dentist you may go to. Indemnity plan may have longer waiting periods the most PPO so make sure you understand any plan limits before making your choice

You may be better off with an Indemnity plan so that you can go to your dentist that does not take any dental insurance plan and have your coverages stay the same.
A PPO will normally drop your coverage if you go outside the network of dental providers. Knowing you want to choose a dentist that does not take any plans you be better off with a plan the fully lets you do that.
