Takings additional dental care with visually impaired children. Oral health care and preventive dental care is important aspect of any child. However it is all the more important for a child that has special health needs such as being visually impaired that they get the dental care they may need.
Visually impaired children can be a disadvantage, since they may not have the skill needed to be able to adequately apply the techniques necessary to control plaque. With out controlling plaque properly, there is a higher risk of dental caries and gum disease. Visually impaired children may need to see a dentist more then just the standard twice a year.
