Insurance dental plans for a family in California
We live in LA CA and we need to have some dental care for at least our basics. My son has not been to the dentist in over eight months and and my husband well I do not even know when the last time he as seen a dentist.
I told him I was going to look for a low cost family dental plan we could at least get to start saving some money when we go to the dentist. I just did not know at the time there would be so many choices. I am not sure what is better a dental HMO or a dental discount plan. The both seem to be within our budget. Can you advise

I like dental HMO insurance plans a little more then dental discount plans if you compare fee schedules HMO offer better saving in most cases.
However dental discount plan are great if you need it to be effective right away. Or you want a dental service that is not normally covered by dental insurance.
So they both have there pros and cons so it depends on your own family dental needs.

Well if you take a look at the GoldenWest 200 HMO dental insurace program. It is a good low cost dental HMO insurance.
What I like is the free preventive care for X-rays, Office Visits and basic Cleanings. You can review the rest of the fee schedule we have listed and see the rest of the dental services are low cost.
It also has some specialist coverages which some HMO dental insurance plans do not inclue. About the only down side is the six months waiting periods for the crowns, bridges, partials and dentures.

I would suggest reviewing the dental insurance plans as a first option. I person only like dental insurance I just feel your getting better plan benefits.
I live in AZ but I check out the plans this web site has to offer and really feel HMO dental insurance is a more affordable way to go unless you want the odd dental service the is not covered. The a dental discount plan would help you better with that.

I do not think any one answer is right or wrong for you because you just need to take your time read though each dental plan dental insurance to see which you feel will best fit you and your family dental needs.
I love my dental discount plan that I have though Careington however that may not make it the best for you. Just go though them and since both dental discount plans and dental HMO plans you have to stay within the plan net work of providers. I suggest making sure the dentist listed is still taking the plan before buying anything.
