Family dental insurance, Pregnant with first child
Hello I am going to be having our first child. My husband and I currently do not have dental insurance but I told him to start shopping out some before the baby due so we will have something in place when he needs to use it. My question is would we buy a family dental plan now including our baby which will be born in four more months. Or do we buy a couple plan and add our child when he or she is born? I am not sure if we an add a child during the policy term or if we have to wait for the year to be over. Please advise.

It is all up to you and what you feel is best. She is not due for another four months and babies start to teeth around seven to eight months give or take.
If it was me I would get the dental insurance for a couple and then add the baby to the policy when he/she starts to teething.

Many dental insurance plan will let you add a child mid term. Unlike many group dental plans where you are waiting for the open enrollment. Just call the plan and confirm before getting one.

For my wife and I we did not add our son to our policy until he was almost a year. We had to wait until our policy term came up but it worked out well since that was around the same time he really started getting his teeth in.

I do not think it really matters if you do it now or latter due to the time period would fall around the time teeth would be coming in. You are not taking your child to see the dentist until they start cutting their teeth anyway. I would save the cost of having a family plan until it was necessary but that me.
