Checking out your dental discount plans.
What advise can you give to someone new at buying dental insurance and or a dental plan? I do not need much so a dental discount plan seem to fit my budget better. However is there anything I should know? It seems a little to good to be true, so I am a little leary.

I have had the Careington dental discount plan now for three years. It fits my dental needs since when I first got it I wanted to have my teeth whiten which is something I found out most dental insurance plans do not cover for.
Now I only go to the dentist twice a year for my cleaning and check ups but the savings off of just those services still make the plan worth having. I guess the main thing is making sure you have a dentist in your area that takes the plan. I would call too be for buying. I found some dentist listed but when you call they say they no longer taking it for new patients. That is something to keep in mind.

Discount dental plans are becoming more and more popular. Dental Discount plans are great for dental services that either are not covered under most dental insurance plans or have long waiting periods until coverage is available.
Dental discount plans are also good in the fact that they are normally more affordable then many dental insurance plans. Whether you buy a dental discount plan or dental insurance will depend on your own dental needs and want you want out of the plan.
However, keep in mind to read and understand each plans policy terms and conditions to avoid any frustration latter on. And as the prior reply stated it is a good idea to call the dentist in any plan network to confirm that they are still accepting the plan before buying it.

As for me I like dental insurance a good dental insurance plan that is also normally affordable on a low income would be dental HMO insurance plans.
I suggest that if you like to get a dental discount plan make sure you are getting one from a license insurance agent. You do not need to be a license insurance agent to sell a dental discount plan so anyone one can sell one. Getting a dental discount plan from someone that is an license insurance agent should help you feel better about the plan in question.
