Low monthly dental insurance plans.
Why is it that on the low monthly insurance plans that I can afford doe not let you go outside of their network of providers. The dental insurance plan that let you do that are so costly I can not afford them. I am upset about thiss because my dentist I have been going to since I was a kid does not take the lower cost plans.
I got drop from my parents plan when I turned 23 and my mom will not be getting me one so I have to come up with the money. Can any one please advise what I can do?

When you are talking about lower cost plans I a guessing you mean dental HMOs insurance or Dental discount plans. The reason they both can keep their cost for the plan low is because the company negotiated the cost for dental services with the dentist that are in the net work. And you pay that negotiated price as shown within the plan coverages.
Where as PPOs are more costly because the insurance company is paying out claims. As an example: The dentist charges $100.00 your coverage is 50% so you pay $50 the insurance company pays the other $50.00
One of the reason why even with a PPOs it is better to stay within their network is because that way in theory you do not have to worry about UCR fees. Since in network dentist have also agree to some cost limits.
Also some PPOs plans also reduce your coverages if you do choose to go outside their network of dental providers.
The thing to do when buy any of these types of plans is understand the plan you are buying and how it works. Read the term and conditions know your limits and if you have questions ask before buying.
