Can I buy a Dental Insurance for an Individual.

All I ever had was dental insurance that I got though my job.  It was a Delta dental plan.  I did not love it but it work for the most part.  Some times I would go over a UCR fee or whatever.  Was not sure why I just would pay the bill.

Anyway I no longer have that plan since I changed jobs.  Since I still had my card I called Delta dental but was told I had to be on a group plan to get it.  I do not understand.  I have a friend that has Delta dental she bought the plan for just her.

I asked my friend but was told she got it so long ago that she is not sure where she got access to it.  Is it too late for me to get Delta dental for an individual plan?
