How can I make getting braces seem fun and exciting.
My son needs to get braces for an overbite he has. He has been upset for the past few days since we told him we would be taking him to see an orthodontic dentist to find out more about him having braces.
You think he be happy we want to fix his teeth so he can have a correct bite. NO he is just whining about it. Is there any way to make him feel better about having braces put on?

No probably not. Our daughter was the same way. She wined the whole time she was in her braces with by the way cost us $2500 and that was with our dental insurance she had many issues with her teeth beyond just an over bite.
That just kids for you. I am told they will be happy about having the braces once they are out of them and they are old enough to know just want you did for them.
I am still waiting…… =( Oh the joys of being a parent.

Well I tell you want if you do not give him braces he complain when he is older how you did not take care of his teeth when he needed to have braces.
I could not afford to put my daughter in braces. She has crooked teeth and at the time braces where very costly and many dental insurance plans did not cover much if anything toward the cost of having braces.
She is 25 still complaining to me about how we did not get her braces when she was a kid. I just tell her she an adult she can get them now if she wants. Oh no that would mean she has to pay for them.
You can only do what you think is best for your son. If I had the money I would have gotten her braces but I was a single mom of three and I just could not do it.

I do not know how to make your son feel better. But I would try explaining to him that you are correcting his bite. Which is important because over time having and over bite or under bite can start to cause him problems.
I would get very bad headaches do to my bite. I would grind my teeth without knowing it when I was asleep and having a wrong bite also hurt your jaw over time. I was told this by my dentist as to why I was having so many issues with my jaw and getting headaches.
Once I got braces and my bite was corrected all of that stop so I do believe him. Not only that but your face shape looks better when you correct you bite. I think it was 100 percent worth having braces for two years and I would do it all over again if I had too.
