Dental insurance, Why do dental PPOs have waiting periods
I need to get a dental PPO plan since those are the only plans my dentist will accept. He stated their office is not in any network of providers but PPO would work and that they would file out the claims.
I have been searching dental PPOs plans and they all have waiting periods. It seems to me the shorter the waiting periods the lower the max limit is. I want at least a $2000 max limit but ideally with no waiting periods. Why do they have waiting periods? I get the max limit as to how much the company wants to spend but why make we wait on top of it?? Is there PPO without waiting periods?

Dental PPO plans normally will have waiting periods. The time periods will very depending on the plan. You are right that for some PPO dental plans the lower the yearly max limit is the short waiting periods may be.
It is kinda like a give a take on what you feel you may need more. The main reason why PPO plans have waiting periods is that they need money on the books to pay the claims for the larger dental services. Also it prevents the person that would buy the plan to have a root canal done then cancel once the dental service was finished.
PPO dental plans are not short terms plans. And should be bough before having any major dental needs. So that hopefully with proper preventive care you will not need to have major services.
